Hailes Castle |
Well hi everyone - long time no chat hahahahaha. It has been another beautiful day here in Scotland. I was up bright and early, like 3am. But managed to fall back asleep again for a couple of hours. Had a bath, some breakfast and the we made our way for the 11:05 am bus towards East Linton. Our plan was to follow a foot path along the side of the River Tyne but when we got to the beginning of the path there was a "closed" sign. It said it was closed because of all the rains they have had, it had caused parts of the path to erode and some of it had slipped away. So we decided we were still going to the castle, so that meant walking up the side of the motorway out of East Linton. It was a long but scenic route, with several uphills so we got a bit of a workout. When we got to the castle, it was just as I remembered it all those years ago. Majestic, serene and peaceful. So much history, it makes you wonder what it was like all those hundreds of years ago when it was a working castle. We spent about an hour at the castle, exploring and taking photos. I hope you will check out the photos on Facebook. You will see why I love it so much. It truly is a beautiful place. When we left the castle, we headed back to East Linton on a different road. It was a country lane with room for one car. We walked through farmlands next to the river. Love, love, love it. I won't be able to return to the desert because the places I get to walk here are awesome and I won't/don't want to leave...lol. The desert does nothing for me and I am tired of it. 24 years is too long. Time for a life change before life passes me by...lol

Let's take photos |
After we got back to East Linton, we had lunch in a little coffee shop. Was looking forward to a bowl of homemade soup but they were sold out for the day. So had a cheese and onion toast (yum). After lunch we had about 25 minutes before the bus arrived, so we wandered around town and then down by the river. All in all, it was a super day. We walked about 6 miles today, so I walked off my breakfast this morning ..lol. There are no plans for tomorrow. I think I am going to get up and go on a run. I haven't actually run since I got here. There's a 3 mile route I can take through the farms where I can just run like the wind - no-one to bother me, maybe just one or two people walking their dogs. Hope everyone is enjoying their Saturday as much as I have enjoyed mine. Have a great Sunday and I will talk to you tomorrow night. Bye for now !!!
